2013– Ongoing
“City Planners” is one of The National Museum´s school exhibitions, which are touring schools throughout Norway in collaboration with the Cultural Rucksack. The exhibition allows children to play with a simple and educational building kit consisting of 700 buildings in wood, that makes them reflect on their built environment. What makes a good city? Why do cities look like they do?
Through designing, testing and entering the role as city planners, the students gain a deeper understanding of urban planning and architecture and acquire knowledge of and reflect on cities, streets, places and buildings with different functions. They will gain a greater cultural, societal and formal understanding of our built environment, which will enable them to take part in discussions that are taking place in the society the pupils themselves are a part of.
